Can I drop my vehicle off at the depot on a weekend?
Unfortunately, the depots are only open Monday to Friday. They are closed on weekends and public holidays.
Can I have items in my vehicle?
Yes we can offer a service for you to allow goods in the cars. There are a few rules to adhere to and these are listed on our terms and conditions. All items need to be boxed or placed in suitcases to travel in the vehicle. We do not allow loose items for safety reasons.
Items such as the paperwork for the vehicle (service/log books), spare tyre (in it's housing), jack or a fixed baby seat are not class as items and are classed as part of the vehicle.
You need to specify on your quote that you would like items so that we can quote you correctly. However, we do have restrictions for items in vehicles. To see these restrictions, please refer to our terms and conditions.
Any items that are travelling with the vehicle will NOT be covered under any transit warranty. All items will travel at your own risk.
As an alternative we have a freight division that can move general boxed freight. This will usually be quicker and cheaper than moving it in your car. It will be a seperate transaction from your vehicle and a door to door transaction. Should you require a quotation please email your request to bookings@auto-logistics.com.au noting each box weight, length, width and height.
Can I leave my child seats in the car?
Yes this is fine as long as they are fitted and not loose. We class these as a neccessary part of your vehicle
Can I pay cash at the depot when I drop my vehicle off?
Unfortunately, the depots do not accept cash. Payment needs to be made at the time of booking before taking your vehicle to the depot.
If you do not have a credit card to make payment over the phone or online, we can provide you with a Tax Invoice to pay via EFT / Cash into the bank - however your vehicle will not be booked in for collection / drop off until the funds have cleared into our account.
Can my car stay at the depot a few days if I am not available to collect the car?
Once a vehicle arrives at the depot, you have 3 business days to collect it. If you are not able to collect the vehicle within this time, you may need to nominate someone else to collect the vehicle on your behalf, or arrange for the vehicle to be delivered out to your address (at an additional cost).
The depots are not storage yards and we would prefer that the vehicles are collected as soon as possible. Some depots will allow your vehicle to sit in the yard for more than 3 days however, they may charge storage fees. Your vehicle will not be released until the storage fees are paid.
Can my vehicle be collected or delivered on a weekend?
Unfortunately, door collections and deliveries are only available Monday to Friday, during business hours
Do Auto-Logistics transport damaged vehicles?
Yes, we can provide you with a quote for damaged vehicles however, we will need to see photos of the vehicle to see if they are able to be transported. In some cases, if the vehicle is too servely damaged, we may not be able to provide a quote due to health and safety reasons.
Do Auto-Logistics transport lowered or modified vehicles?
Yes, we do transport lowered or modified vehicles. Any vehicle that has less than 15cm ground clearance is classified as lowered. We can transport vehicles with ground clearance as low as 8cm.
Ground clearance is measured from the lowest point of the vehicle to the ground. This may not be the body, it may be from the exhaust or pipes under the vehicle. This information needs to be specified on your quote in order for us to quote you correctly.
Do Auto-Logistics transport non running vehicles or project vehicles?
Yes, we can provide you with a quote to transport non running vehicles/project cars. They need to be rollable, have working hand brake and foot brakes, unlocked and working steering, have a driver seat fitted and the tyres need to be pumped up.
If your vehicle is not in full 100% working mechanical order, your vehicle will be classed as a non runner to prevent possible further damage (this includes overheating or misfiring).
If your vehicle is a non runner due to having a flat battery, it would be cheaper if you were to replace the battery, instead of transporting it as a non runner.
It is important to advise us of any issues with the vehicle during the quoting process to ensure that you have been given the correct price and to avoid any additional fees.
Do you collect from Auctions like Grays Online and Manheim
Yes we do but you need to be very careful before placing your booking to ensure these cars are fully drivable and in 100% roadworthy condition. They need to start first time every time. We do not jump start cars on collection or in transit so this is something you need to check with the auctions first.
Most cars in auctions are there for a reason and have usually been stood for a long time and will have depleted batteries. If we do go and attempt to collect a car that does not start then there will be additional charges for us to return to collect a car once its running. Please, please, please check as this is a common daily occurrence and gets expensive for you.
We do not survey auction cars for damage as you have purchased them sight unseen. Auction house staff will not sign condition reports, therefore these cars are not covered by our warranty.
Do you collect from Pickles Auctions or Graysonline?
We do collect from all auction houses. If you are obtaining an instant online quote the vehicle must meet our criteria as running 100% and in a roadworthy condition, have no damage and not be older than 30 years old. If it does not meet our requirements then please proceed to a custom quote. Be aware SALVAGE yards are not the same as AUCTION YARDS. See FAQ on Salvage yards.
Do you collect from Salvage Yards like Pickles Salvage
Yes we can collect from salvage yards but we will need to see pictures of the vehicles before we can quote them. Without pictures and a full description of what is wrong with the vehicles we will not be able to quote
Do you guarantee delivery dates and times?
Unfortunately, we cannot promise or guarantee delivery dates or times. We are only able to provide estimated transit times. Sometimes circumstances are out of our control and these can affect transit times (E.g. Freight volumes, floods, fires, etc.). We suggest that you do not plan holidays, meetings, etc around these dates, as they are estimations only. On occasions transit times may change during transit so what you were quoted at the time of booking may be more or less that the actual transit time.
Do you offer an enclosed service?
Yes, we do offer an enclosed service. All prices given as an instant online quote are for the standard open truck service. If you are after an enclosed service, this needs to be specified on your quote. If you are unsure, please do not hesitiate to contact one of our friendly staff members.
Please be advised that vehicles only travel enclosed between depots only. Door collections and deliveries are performed with an open truck.
Do you transport Caravans, Campervans, Trailers or Trucks?
Yes we can. We will need to know the overall dimensions (Length, Width, Height and Weight) and value. In some cases, we will require photos to be able to provide you with a quote. Please ensure that the dimensions you provide are from furthest point to furthest point. This includes, draw bars, hitch, mirrors, etc.
Also, please be aware that you will need to specify if your caravan, caravan, trailer, camper trailer, etc will have items in it, as this will effect your quote.
Do you transport Motorbikes or Scooters?
Yes, we can also transport motorbikes. Please visit www.bikelogistics.com.au or call 1300 455 464 for further information and to obtain a quote.
Does my vehicle need to be registered?
No, your vehicle does not have to be registered for us to transport it, but it does need to be in a roadworthy, drivable condition with no panel damage or faults. The vehicles are not driven on the roads, therefore, do not require to be registered. We offer a door to door service, so that you do not need to worry about orangising a permit to get your vehicle home.
Does someone need to be at the address when a vehicle is being collected or delivered?
Yes. Someone needs to be at the collection address, as they need to sign off on the condition report and hand over the keys to the vehicle. Someone needs to be at the delivery address, as they need to sign off on the condition report and receive the keys to the vehicle. If no one is at the address when the driver arrives, futile fees may apply.
How do I make a booking?
Once you have obtained a quote through our online website, you can click the “book and pay” link in the email or you could call us and one of our friendly staff members can take the booking over the phone.
How do I pay for a booking?
We accept payments with VISA and MasterCard (credit or debit). Payments can be processed online or over the phone with our friendly staff.
If you do not have a credit or debit card, you can request an invoice to be sent out to you to make payment via an electronic transfer or by depositing cash into our account. Our banking details can be found on the bottom of the tax invoice.
Please note that bookings will not be processed until payment has been made in full.
How far in advanced do I need to make a booking?
We can take bookings 1-2 business days prior to a depot drop off or up to 4 weeks in advance from your nominated/available from date.
If booking for a door collection, it generally takes 2-3 business days for a door collection (after confirmation) to occur. Please be aware that it takes longer to schedule trucks out to rural/frieght dependant areas, as it depends on the availability of the trucks at the time.
How is my car collected and delivered to a door address?
Vehicles are picked up or delivered on a smaller single/dual tilt tray from/to residential or business addresses which enables better access on suburban roads. Large car carriers and rail are used between the depots.
How long will it take to transport my car?
As a guide we have a transit table page on our web site https://www.auto-logistics.com.au/Transit-Times.aspx This will give you a good idea. Be aware that transit times are only estimates and we do our best to be as accurate as possible. Transporting vehicles is not like booking a seat on a plane and loads have to be planned to fit vehicles. Whilst we do not want to have your car any longer than required make alternative arrangements for your transport needs in case your vehicle is unexpectedly delayed.
We exceed our transit times too on many occasions so also be prepared to receive your vehicle early.
How much notice do I need to give before dropping my vehicle off at the depot?
We need at least 1 business days’ notice (after payment) prior to you dropping your vehicle off at the depot. Please note, if you book over the weekend, your booking will not be processed until Monday. Once your booking has been confirmed, you are then able to drop off at the depot.
How much notice do I need to give before my vehicle can be collected from an address?
We will generally perform metro collections within 2-3 business days after your booking has been confirmed. If your vehicle needs to be collected from an area outside metro (from a country/rural area), it may take a little longer to schedule a truck to come out to the address as it will depend on the availability of the trucks.
How will Auto Logistics move/transport my vehicle?
Majority of all transport will be via road. Vehicles will be placed on the back of a truck and transported to it's destination. In some instances (such as over the boarder between SA and WA), a rail service may be used. We also have transporters that will use a boat service (eg. Melbourne to Tasmania).
Is my vehicle insured during transit?
Your vehicle is covered under a basic transit warranty. This covers your vehicle for driver negligence (if they damage it, while loading and unloading). Vehicles are transported on open trucks, so we do not cover for anything that is beyond the driver's control such as stone chips, hail damage, etc.
We suggest that you contact your insurance company and let them know that you are transporting the vehicle and ask if they can provide you with a cover note or any additional coverage/insurance while your vehicle is in transit.
Please note that there are some services that we offer but do not include any form of warranty/insurance.
What happens if I decide to cancel my booking?
Once you have submitted a booking you have agreed to our terms and conditions of carriage. At any point after this you decide to cancel there will be cancellation fees of at least $165. Depending on the sage of the booking we are up to will deem the amount of refund you will receive.
Where are your depots located?
We have multiple depots in most major capitals. Depots are dependant on where the vehicle is going to and from, type of transport, etc. Depot addresses will be emailed out to you on your booking confirmation email. Booking confirmations are emailed out once your booking has been confirmed. If you need to know the location prior to booking, we suggest that you give us a call and we can advise you of the suburb the depot is located in.
Who provides the warranty cover to transport my car?
Most of our contract carriers cover your vehicle with a transit warranty from pick up to delivery up to the value of $60,000. AUTO Logistics is not liable for any loss or damage to motor vehicles in transit as the warranty is provided by the contracted carrier. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the warranty cover, please contact the carrier/s directly for their full Terms and Conditions.
Please also note that should your vehicle be travelling with items inside, it must be acknowledged and approved at time of booking and that the warranty does not cover any of these items during transit where applicable.
Why is it so expensive to have items in the vehicle?
As a common rule our large interstate trucks do not carry goods in vehicles as our warranty cover does not allow it. When you see a price for an empty vehicle then a much higher price for a vehicle containing goods, its not that we add a fee to the empty vehicle price and charge more. This is a common mistake that people make and we are not profiteering from you having goods in your car. The car will travel on a smaller fleet of specialised carriers that have different warranty cover. The costs are higher therfore you pay additionl fees to cover these.
